Bringing artists, artisans, and writers together to enrich the history and future of the book
OUR VISION: A world in which creative expression through the art of the book is accessible to all.
MISSION: Our mission is to inspire artistic practice, foster education, and bring diverse communities together through the book arts. We make book arts more accessible by sharing tools, techniques, and tradition. We support artists and writers from different backgrounds and encourage creative growth. Through exhibitions and educational programs, we bring people together, inspire new ideas, and help shape the future of the book as a nexus for history, culture, literacy, and the imagination.
VALUES: Our work nourishes the human spirit. We believe creativity is a basic human necessity and should be encouraged and celebrated in every form. Creative expression is key to living a full and healthy life. By making art communally, we forge strong local, intergenerational and international relationships.
GMCB brings together a wide range of artists, artisans, and writers through programs that highlight different voices and artistic styles. We make this art form open to everyone by welcoming new ideas, honoring tradition, teaching new artists, inspiring creativity, and celebrating the book. GMCB supports the limitless creative development of the book as a medium for interdisciplinary education.
